A focus on the social transformations that have shaped the condition of women over the past seventy years
The exhibition at the Villa Bassi Rathgeb Museum, through the iconic images of the MAGNUM Photos agency, focuses on two complementary aspects: women photographers who capture reality with a unique vision and the women portrayed, who emerge as figures of great significance, bearing witness to challenges, achievements, and roles in both intimate and public contexts.
The exhibition highlights a dialogue between styles, languages, and generations, creating an unprecedented exchange of voices and perspectives that defy convention. Despite their diversity, the photographs are connected by struggles, emotions, and experiences that, through presence and posture, become symbols of a journey toward emancipation, both as individuals and as a collective.
The exhibition also offers a reflection on the relationship between the female body and its representation. The photographs capture women in moments of intimacy as well as in the midst of public engagement, where their presence and stance symbolize a continuous fight for emancipation, not only as individuals but as a community.
