An exhibition that offers the opportunity to rediscover a unique, independent, and multifaceted artist
Casorati in Palazzo Reale offers a comprehensive reinterpretation of the artist’s work, retracing the different phases of his production in chronological order through 14 rooms, from his early years in the early 20th century to the 1950s. Over one hundred works are presented for the occasion, including oil paintings on canvas and wood, sculptures, graphic works from the Symbolist period, sketches for stage designs of productions created for Teatro alla Scala – all of outstanding significance and refined quality, selected for their exemplary exhibition history.
As the curators note, “The retrospective has been designed to transport visitors into the poetic universe of Casorati, inviting them to immerse themselves in his environments (the interiors and the studio, the conceptual stage of his entire artistic vision), leading them through thoughtful and melancholic figures, reflective emblems of a participatory humanity and a deep existential philosophy. The rooms of Palazzo Reale provide the perfect grand setting to reconstruct the silent dimension, made of pauses, counterpoints, and voids, emanated by the works themselves.”
